HONG KONG • Donnie Yen has gone from Ip Man to fireman. The Hong Kong actor, who’s well-known for enjoying the Wing Chun grasp of that identify within the Ip Man motion pictures (2008 to 2019), has been appointed the Worldwide Picture Ambassador of Hong Kong Hearth Companies Division.
In accordance with a press launch yesterday, Yen, 57, was offered with the certificates of appointment by Mr Joseph Leung, the director of fireplace providers, at a ceremony held on the Hearth and Ambulance Companies Academy in Hong Kong.
On the ceremony, Yen mentioned he was honoured to serve within the position and shared some anecdotes from the filming of the Hearth Companies promotional movies. He revealed that he would file a music for the division for the primary time.
Mr Leung mentioned Yen’s distinctive heroic picture strongly resonates with the intrepidity of the Hearth Companies personnel. He added that Yen’s dedication to work and perfection-seeking professionalism parallel the division’s spirit to always attempt for enchancment and excellence.
Yen had not too long ago uploaded on social media a promotional video for the division, writing: “(A) actual hero is somebody who has given his or her life to one thing greater than (himself or herself). Honoured to be a part of this.”
In one other promotional video, Yen is requested if he’s Ip Man and replies that he’s a fireman or “ambulance man”.
Yen is starring in an upcoming crime thriller, Raging Hearth, with Nicholas Tse and Qin Lan, directed by the late Benny Chan.
