SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Over an emotional video name, Governor Gavin Newsom appointed the primary Latino US Senator to symbolize California. Secretary of State Alex Padilla will fill the vacant Senate seat left by Vice President-elect Kamala Harris.
“I’m honored and humbled,” Padilla stated to the governor in the course of the name.
The appointment is a historic second for Latinos and for Abram Diaz, Co-Chair of the California Latino Capitol Affiliation Basis.
