SALEM — John Edward Clark, 72, handed away at dwelling Sunday, Dec. 13, 2020, after an extended and courageous battle with lymphoma.
John was born Aug. 24, 1948, in Hannibal, Mo., the oldest little one of the late Marion and Mary Fenton Clark. John graduated from Iowa Mennonite College in 1966 and obtained a bachelor’s diploma in psychology from Jap Mennonite School in 1970.
He married Lucille Martin on June 14, 1969. They celebrated 50 years of marriage with a celebration in June 2019.
John labored in upkeep for South Vary Colleges for 40 years, retiring in 2017. He was a mentor for the South Vary Excessive College Educational Problem crew. John was a member of Halfway Mennonite Church in Columbiana and served as an usher, Sunday faculty trainer, librarian and in lots of different roles. He loved woodworking and chopping wooden, and was expert with plumbing and electrical energy. He volunteered with Mennonite Catastrophe Service, rebuilding broken properties. John was an adept handyman who spent his life fixing issues.
He was an avid gardener all his life and offered his children, his neighbors and his mates with an infinite provide of greens from his massive gardens. He beloved to develop flowers and fruits. “Grandpa’s applesauce” was beloved by all of his grandkids.
John beloved crossword puzzles, Sudoku, phrase searches and jigsaw puzzles. He was a formidable “Jeopardy” participant from the consolation of his recliner. He was a yard sale and public sale addict. He loved the day by day newspaper comics, the St. Louis Cardinals, Saturday night ice cream along with his children and baking cookies to share with others.
He beloved spending time along with his grandkids and all the opposite “little folks” in his life who referred to as him Grandpa John.
He’s survived by his spouse, Lucille; his youngsters, Janelle (Todd Ferrante) of Newport Information, Va., Jeremy (Tracy) of Harrisonburg, Va. and Jenita (Ky Tullis) of Washingtonville; his beloved grandchildren, Tanner Tullis, Kylie Tullis, Natalie Clark, and Marissa Clark; and siblings, Esther (Ron Tate) of Jefferson Metropolis, Mo., Carl (Della) Clark of Palmyra, Mo., Mary (Galen) Sanford of Baker Metropolis, Ore. and Gwena (Stephen ) Denemark of Quincy, Ailing.; in addition to many siblings-in-law, nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Personal companies have been held. A celebration of life might be held in summer season 2021.
