Parsons College of Design names new dean of fashionDr. Ben Barry has been appointed the brand new dean of the College of Trend at The New College’s Parsons College of Design.
Barry, who has greater than 15 years of experiences as a trend educator, researcher, and activist, specialises in fairness, variety and inclusion, and teaches programs on trend and systemic change, queer trend design and design justice.
At present, he serves because the chair of trend, affiliate professor of fairness, variety and inclusion, and director of the middle for trend and systemic change at Ryerson College in Toronto, Canada. As chair of trend at Ryerson, he has led the division by a deep transformation by embedding and prioritising inclusion, decolonisation and sustainability into the curriculum and tradition.
Barry will formally be a part of Parsons on July 1, 2021.
As dean of trend, Barry will lead and oversee all areas of the varsity together with a curriculum that encompasses the BFA in Trend Design, AAS diploma packages in Trend Design and Trend Advertising and marketing, MFA in Trend Design and Society, MFA in Textiles, and MPS in Trend Administration.
