Minnesota goaltender Jack LaFontaine stopped all 34 photographs he confronted, and the Gophers completed the primary half of the 2020-21 season at 8-0-0 after defeating Michigan 4-0 on Wednesday.
It was LaFontaine’s second profession shutout, each coming throughout the first half of this marketing campaign.
Scott Reedy began the scoring for No. 4 Minnesota on the 4:24 mark of the primary interval. It was Reedy’s sixth purpose of the season, tying him for the nationwide lead.
Gophers ahead Sammy Walker added a power-play purpose earlier than the interval was over.
Exiting the primary intermission with a 2-0 lead, Minnesota added one other pair of targets within the second interval off the sticks of sophomore Jaxon Nelson and freshman Mike Koster. It was the primary profession purpose for Koster, a product of Chaska Excessive College.
LaFontaine made 12 of his 34 saves within the third interval to protect Minnesota’s excellent report and the 4-0 victory.
The Gophers went 2 for 4 on the facility play, whereas Michigan didn’t rating on its solely extra-man benefit of the sport.
With the primary half of the season behind them, the Gophers will look forward to the Massive Ten to announce the rest of the 2020-21 schedule at a later time.
